Hey Skirts,
I have an opportunity to help create a track day up at the Streets of Willow at Willow Springs International Raceway (Willow Springs)
The day could be a females-only day, if there is enough of a turnout.
It would cost around $150 which would include female instructors to help you learn how to maneuver the track, plus there would be different groups (beginners, advanced, etc) so it won't be intimidating, or hold you back.
The track day is November 21, it's a Friday, and Willow Springs is about 85 miles North East of Los Angeles,. I love the drive out there, personally.
I've been out to the Streets of Willow 3 times now and the track seems to be made for the MINI's. It's like a car-sized go-cart track. It's full of twisties and elevation changes. It's also cool for all levels of driving because it's more of a techinical track, one doesn't tend to get into high speeds (I think my highest was around 90, for about 3 seconds) which makes it safer for yourself and your car.
So I need a show of hands, who would realistically be able to, and want to go?

PS: one of my videos is of the track at Streets of Willow. \
PPS: I'm going up in October with my Porsche buddies, it's addicting!

One week prior to Turkey Day...

I think I am in... what do I need ?
Helmet, Gloves, Driving Shoes?
All you need is close-toed shoes. If you have a helmet, or want to invest in one, you need a SNELL certified one. I believe the guy who I'm working with rents out helmets as well.
I don't wear my driving gloves when I do it. Just my chuck taylors and my pink helmet...
and the rest of me is naked.

no it is NOT.
Although I'm not in the area, I am going to recommend this to all the ladies out there.

I just went to a track day where I moved up a group. I was one of two women on track at the same time? And not to be derrogatory, (I really don't mean to be), but the testosterone showed. Maybe not on track itself, but on the downtime. I kept hearing comments about how one guy was on this other guy's butt all the time, and how one wasn't going to let another by... It was a totally different vibe than when I was there last time with my girlfriend (who is another AWESOME driver).

Track days are FUN FUN FUN! The price seems right. (mine was $300 for six 20-minute sessions) You will learn your car and its abilities. It's especially great if you can have a coach with you on the track the first few times.

Did I mention track days are FUN FUN FUN? Go do it.
Oooh, this sounds like FUN!!! hehe, I'm usually a "careful" driver, but *every once in a while* I do become that aggressive driver ~ a tendency I picked up from living in D.C. ;-)

I'll have to check out my money situation at that point...perhaps if I'm lucky enough to find a job as soon as I graduate from esthetician school, I'll be able to go! Let me know how soon you need to know!
Just an update, obviously there is not enough interest in a track day for now. I'll let you know if I have a chance to plan another one, or if my friend at Speedventures ends up doing a co-ed day, I'll let you all know.
Aloha,
Victoria
I must admit, I am intrigued...
