Shave ice

Ok, currently I am on a diet, argh, but for whatever reason there has been a lot of talk around me regarding the subject of shave ice.

Rainbows was a fav last century when I was hanging out on the North Shore a lot, very sweet, perfect snow and just a little a

zuke and ice cream if you pressed it. They made them mostly for the haole surfer boys. Also they were expensive. Then later while on Maui, I found this place in Happy Valley side of Wailuku that made them. They were HUGE, large scoop of ice cream, a good helping of azuke paste and some grass jelly, snow, syrup, then sweetened condensed milk on top of it all for $2.50!! This thing was HUGE -like a whole meal huge!
Now it is summer time, and could be a good time to see if there is a good shave ice on this side of the world. Or we could go on a sampling tour of several places...
