Dallas 3-Day Cheer Stations

Here we have the route and the Cheer Stations where we'll be teaming up with the Adult Mean Girls (AMG) team!

We are just over a week away, and I am happy to share more details with you.  Please note the route locations are subject to change slightly due to circumstances out of our control.  Remember to ‘friend’ me on Facebook to keep up to date on the route during the 3-days.  I will be posting from each location.

Thursday, 11/3 – Get The Party Started Dinner for Walkers, Family and Friends

• Time:  7:00p.m.

• Where:  On The Border, 1505 Central Expwy., Plano, TX 75075, 972-372-0065 (near the intersection of 15^th and Central Expressway in Plano, north of Collin Creek Mall, or approx. 3 miles north of the 3-day hotel

• Price:  $15 per person, which includes tax, tip, and non-alcoholic drink.  (Alcohol billed separately)

• Menu:  Cheese Enchiladas, Slow-Cooked Pulled Chicken Flautas, Create-Your-Own Beef Taco Bar, Chicken Enchiladas with sour cream sauce, sopapillas with honey and chocolate.

• We are trying this buffet to speed up the process, as our group is getting too big and our walkers need to get back to their hotel room for much needed rest. 

Friday, 11/4 – Let The Good Times Walk!

• 7:30a.m. Opening Ceremonies:  Collin Creek Mall, 811 North Central Expressway (15^th or Plano Parkway exit).  In the parking lot on the west side (Alma Drive).

• Morning AMG Cheer Stop #1:  Approximately 8:30, University of Texas at Dallas, northwest corner of Campbell and Floyd Road in Richardson.  (Between Coit Road and 75 Central Expressway on Campbell).  Until approximately 10:30.

• Afternoon AMG Cheer Stop #2:  On McEwan Road in Farmers Branch area, somewhere in a 2 block area between Greenview Blvd. and N. Welch Road, based on traffic.  McEwan Road is just north of 635 and intersects Midway Road.

• We will likely have a short, informal 3^rd stop early afternoon midway between these points.

• We need a volunteer to pick up dinner for the walkers at a nearby burger/pizza place (money provided) and deliver it to camp.

Saturday, 11/5 – This is Harder Than I Thought!

• Morning AMG Cheer Stop #1 , approximately 8:30a.m. to 10:30:  Turner Hardware, 12895 Josey Lane (intersects with Valley View Lane) in Farmers Branch.  (I'D LIKE AS MANY MINI'S AS WE CAN GET THERE)

• Afternoon AMG Cheer Stop #2, approximately 1:00p.m., Meringue Bakery, 13901 Midway Road (south of Spring Valley).  We may be just one short block north at Sigma and Midway at the traffic light (same as last year).  Either way, we’ll be at this location until the last walker, usually around 5:00 to 5:30. • We need a volunteer to pick up dinner for the walkers at a nearby burger/pizza place (money provided) and deliver it to camp.

Sunday, 11/5 – Blisters, Tears and Encouragement

• Morning AMG Cheer Stop #1, approximately 8:00 to 10:00a.m:  Curtis Park, 3545 Lovers Lane (Lovers Lane & Thackery St), Dallas.   (EVEN MORE MINI'S NEEDED)

• Grab a quick lunch, it will be a long day!  There is an additional formal Komen cheer station at the West End in downtown Dallas.

• Afternoon AMG LAST Cheer Stop, approximately 12:30:  The Gibson Company parking lot, 820 Exposition (one long block from the Fair Park Entrance).  Same location as the last two years.  Our FABULOUS men have a tradition of escorting the last walker to the Fair Park gates.  (Thanks again to The Gibson Company for loaning us their parking lot).  (EVEN MORE MINI'S NEEDED)

• 4:30p.m. Closing Ceremonies at Fair Park (Parking lot near Gate 8, enter at gates 8, 10, or 11 off Fitzhugh Avenue).  Don’t miss this, so worth the effort!   (EVEN MORE MINI'S NEEDED)

• Following the Closing Ceremonies we will be celebrating and toasting our walkers and general hootin’ and hollerin’ at The Twisted Root Burger (same as last year) in Deep Ellum, 2615 Commerce St., 214-741-7668.

A few reminders

• Bring your candy
• Wear whatever makes you happy – the crazier, the better.  Now is the time to paint your face, wear pink hair, etc.  Leave those inhibitions at home!  We have some tutu’s on hand as well.
• Bring your own beverages, snacks (we are not always near a convenience store).  Alcohol should be kept discreet via koozies, cups, etc.
• Please help us keep our locations free of trash, so we are invited back next year.
