Good Grief!
I'm so sorry I haven't updated my blog in forever and a day! The Concert for the Cure took a lot out of me, I tied up all the loose ends from it and took the rest of the year off (for the most part) from the Mini Skirts. As far as that went, the Concert for the Cure was a labour of love and a success! Everyone who attended and worked that night had a great time and we ended up raising over $800! I'm actually looking forward to planning the next one, but it will be more interactive, specifically, I am going to plan a Karaoke for the Cure night, I'll keep you all posted. That reminds me, I need to start planning that...
We had our 3rd Annual New Years Day rally this year! I like to say that, it sounds like I've been doing this for a while, which is nice because I don't feel like I have been. I was telling someone tonight that the first rally I ever planned was the New Years Day one, and it's my favourite in that it's not a lot of work, I don't care how many people show up, it's just about having fun and starting the new year with friends. There is no place in the world I love more than Los Angeles, and the weather has always been beautiful on the New Years Day rallies and I always reflect on how happy I am to be here. Driving past the sparkling Pacific, coming down off Mulholland, it's just my favourite thing!
A week or two ago I got an large manilla envelope in the mail, it was from the United States Patent and Trademark Office and it contained the official piece of paper that states the trademarks that I OWN for "The Mini Skirts". It's nice to have that piece of paper now, it looks so official! I don't make a lot of money, but all the extra money I made last year I spent on that damn trademark so it's all so worth it now! Now I want to come up with more money so I can put my trademark to use! And if any of you see someone besides me making items that say "The Mini Skirts" on them, let me know so I can get a piece of the pie!
Right after the new year is my birthday, so I never make new years resolutions, I use my birthday to reflect on the previous year and make goals for the upcoming year. This year I'm going to pitch my Mini Skirt show idea, and create an animated series to draw viewers (and my regular members!) to the site more often. I'm going to be able to run 5 miles without stopping, easily. I am going to finish painting my apartment and settle in here for the long haul. I'm going to go on a road trip, I don't know where yet, but it will be fulfilling. And maybe this year I will decide I want a boyfriend. We'll see.
I'm really looking forward to what 2009 is going to bring, I hope this is going to be the best year yet for the Mini Skirts!!!
xoxo
Victoria
